This piece depicts a traditional Mexican cowboy, or “Charro", riding a bull in the act of the “charreada.” This is a Jaliscan tradition which can be described as a Mexican rodeo. This stamp piece exemplifies a key part of Jalisco’s culture while employing an analagous palette, the use of watercolor, and digital text and contrast enhancement.

Tampopo Film Poster

This film poster is a traditional take on Juzo Itami’s “spaghetti western” titled Tampopo. The composition and appearance draws from Japanese style block prints. This ties into the union of the American western that Itami sought to capture, as woodblock artists were influenced by Western landscape painting at the time. The text is digitally added and digital color correction is involved as well.
